The tablets to be coated are placed in the pan. The speed of the pan is so adjusted that the tablets tumble in the pan. Hot air is blown in. The syrup is added in portions. After each addition of the syrup, dusting powder is sprinkled. The dusting powder does not allow tablets to stick together. The alternative addition of syrup and powder is repeated until a desired coat is built up.
Towards end only warm syrup is added followed by cold syrup and the tablets are dried by blowing in cold air. This helps in obtaining a smooth surface.
